Through a series of writing exercises and reflections, you will learn about: character, story, plot, narration, beginning, ending, and structure. Whether you’re writing for the very first time, or whether you want to develop the skills you already have, and whatever your genre or style, this course will deepen your understanding and strengthen your skills to help you write your own stories.
Your tutor for this course will be Cat Woodward. Cat Woodward holds a PhD in Literature from The University of East Anglia, and was previously Lecturer in Creative Writing at The University of Cumbria. Cat mentors and runs workshops in creative writing; she has worked with The National Centre for Writing and The Poetry School. In 2018 Cat won The Ivan Juritz Prize for Creative Experiment and received an Author’s Foundation Grant from the Society of Authors. Her book ‘Strange Shape’ is due from Gatehouse Press 9th April 2024.
